The Genetic Diseases Department: A Step Towards Integrated Services

The Genetics Department at Dar Al-Bara Medical Center is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the services provided by our Obstetrics and Gynecology (OGYN) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) departments. Our primary goal is to provide comprehensive support to individuals and couples who may be affected by or at risk of inherited genetic disorders.

Through our specialized services, we offer consultations, support, and diagnostic evaluations for patients and their families. Our team consists of experienced consultants and genetic counselors who conduct comprehensive assessments and tests as needed. We strive to empower patients with knowledge about their genetic health and provide personalized guidance to help them make informed decisions.

In addition to individual patient care, we extend our services to family members, offering consultations, support, and valuable advice to ensure a comprehensive approach to genetic health within the family unit.

At Dar Al-Bara Medical Center, the Genetics Department is committed to providing specialized and dedicated care to meet the unique genetic needs of our patients and their families.

Recently, the centre has introduced next-generation technology to its In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) department by offering Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A). This advanced technique is used in IVF to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before they are transferred to the mother’s uterus. This increases the chances of a healthy pregnancy and reduces the risks of miscarriage and genetic disorders. Additionally, PGT-A helps identify the causes of recurrent miscarriage and allows couples to select the gender of their baby. The accuracy of the results associated with this test exceeds 98% at the centre. This makes it an excellent choice for couples seeking a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Who Should Consider Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Chromosomal Abnormalities?

This test is recommended for women experiencing the following conditions:

– Recurrent miscarriages
– Repeated implantation failures
– Previous pregnancy with chromosomal abnormalities
– Age of mid-thirties or older
